RESEARCH FUNDING

Facilitation of Research Funding – Responsibilities of the Grants Manager

  1. To search for funding agencies and to match research proposals needing funding with funding agencies;
  2. To advise researchers on the preparation of research proposals (including budget) for submission to the RIDO, ERB and funding agencies;
  3. To advise researchers on fund management and disbursement;
  4. To supervise follow-up of the financial commitments of funding agencies;
  5. To supervise the preparation of financial reports for each of the on-going researches; and
  6. To liaise with UP Manila units to facilitate the conduct of research within UP Manila

  • UPCM and NIH issue regular bulletins on available local and international grants
  • Check with PCHRD or NRCP
  • Specialty societies or private foundations have research funds
  • Search the internet for possible external funding using the keywords on the topic of interest and “research grants”
  • Unless stated explicitly, multiple sponsors may be approached for one study
  • Review the research agenda of the potential sponsor
  • Secure the correct forms which are usually available online
  • PREPARE a research proposal
    • Review successful research proposal applications
    • Have proposal reviewed by a colleague
    • Use correct language and grammar
    • Follow required format (font, margins, number of pages, sequence of proposal outline)
